Thanksgiving

What we are thankful for:

Families. We had such a great time at Thanksgiving with all of our family here. As everyone grows up and leaves home, we look forward to the times when we everyone can be together and have some fun.

Growing Families: It is true! Being a grandparent is the best. Kent is the best grandpa around, just ask Quincy. He loves his Grandpa to play with him, to take him outside to feed the cows, and feed him whatever he wants. We are so excited for the next addition to our family in March (baby Hess).

Happiness: There are so many things that make up happy, but being able to spend time with our family is at the top of our list. We bought an early Christmas present, a Wii, and of course we had to try it out while some of the kids were here. It is so much fun. Of course there are other things that make us happy, like good health, having jobs, going to the Single's ward and all their activities, testimonies, and spending time together.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday!

Parent's weekend

Add ImageLast Thursday we went to Provo to spend some time with our kids. Tyler met us in Jerome so he could go with us as Kati and Quincy were in Washington for the week. It was so good to have all of our kids together because this doesn't happen very often. We stayed with Heather, Trevor, and Kelly in Springville. While we were there, we went and watched Kelly's intramural basketball game on Thursday. Friday we spent shopping, getting her laptop taken care which couldn't be fixed for a decent price, so we had to buy another one. :( Friday night we played Rock Band, which was really fun! I myself really liked the drums, not sure which was Kent's favorite, maybe the guitar? Heather and Trevor were the pros and showed up all up!

Saturday was the BYU football game against UNLV. The weather was perfect, and so was the kettlecorn (my favorite and a must at football games!) Before the game, we like to walk around and check out all the activities and games set up across from the stadium (free stuff!). So, Kent and I did the football toss for a chance at a free T-Shirt. I was lucky enough to throw the football in the hole, and Kent's almost made it, so that gave both us a shirt, Kent was was too lucky. Tyler and Kelly both missed! BYU won the close game, which made it fun to watch. After the game was over we went to Cafe Rio for some good food. Seems like that is what most of the people at the game were thinking too!

We had a great weekend, ate way too much food, and played a lot of Rock Band! Good times.

Update from the Funny Farm

Can't believe that summer is almost over! Although Kent has been very busy farming, we did manage to find time to do some fun things the last couple of months. In August we helped Quincy celebrate his 1st birthday by giving him his first 4 wheeler! We also spent the next day rafting the Boise River, which was a lot of fun.

The weekend of August 22, all of our kids were here, which was great! We went to the Western Idaho Fair in Boise and watched the Temptations in concert, it was very good. The next day we went on a picnic up at Bogus Basin. The weather was perfect and we had a good time.
At the end of August, Kent and I had to fly to Oklahoma for my mother's funeral. All of my siblings were there, so it was a nice time to all be together. We even took time to take a hike to Robbers Cave. Oklahoma was nice but a little too humid for me!
We got to babysit Quincy a few weekends ago while Tyler, Kati, and Matt went to the BSU football game. We had such a fun time with him. He loved Kelly's old toys, riding in the wagon, riding on the real 4 wheeler, and being the boss of our house!
Finally, we went to Provo last weekend to see Derek, Heather and Trevor, and Kelly, and also to go to a BYU football game. It was good to finally get away from the farm and work. We had a great time, the weather was perfect, and the football as good as ever.
Oh, and I almost forgot something very important that happened lately---We are going to be grandparents again! Thanks Heather and Trevor!!

Kent has been very busy this last week trying to get all of his hay baled. He has been baling hay the graveyard shift for most of the week and hauling day during the day, and so he has been very tired. Well, early Monday morning he somehow lost his brand new cell phone out in a hay field. So later on that day when I got home from work we went looking for a cell phone in a hay field. After an hour and a half of driving up and down every windrow, the cell phone was no where to be found and we were getting very discouraged. Luckily we have kept his old cell phone and had it reactivated so that he had a phone to use while we still tried to find the new one. So, this morning about 6:00 am he is out baling hay (again) when his dog, Zeus, was acting really excited and wanted to show him his latest prize. You see, this dog is always bringing Kent his latest find: shoes, mice, dead cats, etc. Well, the dog was bringing Kent his cell phone! Don't know where he found it, but Kent was very excited and happy to have his new phone back. So, even though I hate this dog, he did go a good thing and so I guess I will let Kent keep him for a little while longer.

Memorial Day Weekend

We had such a fun weekend! Derek decided to come home from Provo for weekend since he had Monday off from work ,and brought a "friend" with him. Her name is Heather, so every time someone said her name, we kept thinking it was our Heather. She is such a fun person and hopefully Derek will bring her home again another time. Moe and Jennie Lewis also came for the weekend from Echo. Jennie and Kelly were supposed to go the Bishop's cabin to meet his twin brother-in-laws, but one of them got very sick, so the whole thing was called off. So, Jennie and Kelly hung around with the family while Moe went to Jerome to see her grandkids. For the singles ward's FHE last night we had an American Idol karaoke night, complete with judges. They picked Kent to be Simon, and boy did he do a good job. I am surprised that some of the kids weren't in tears when he was done judging them. Overall, we had a great weekend!

Celebrations

On April 26th we celebrated Kent's birthday. First, we went to Kelly's track meet at NNU and Tyler, Kati, and Quincy showed up to watch it with us. After sitting out in the sun all day, we went to Red Robin for some good food. It was a fun day.
Then a couple of weeks later we got to babysit Quincy overnight! Tyler and Kati decided to celebrate their anniversary by letting us have him overnight. We had such a fun time and I am sure Quincy can't wait to come back all my himself!

How it all began--

In the beginning there was the handsome young returned missionary who happened to live in Fruitland, Idaho. Looking for other people his own age (or was it curiosity) he decided to attend the weekly Institute class in Ontario. There he met a young lady who lived in Weiser, Idaho, who also attended this same class and worked in Ontario for a photographer. It took Kent a year to decide that this girl from Weiser as the one for him, and they got married in the Logan Temple on September 11, 1980.
The happy couple made Fruitland their home where they raised their four kids, Tyler, Derek, Heather, and Kelly. Life was good for this family where everyone worked on the dairy and the farm, played with the family dog, Apollo, went camping, tried to go on family vacations, and just had a lot of fun playing sports.
Well, the years have gone by fast and now we have four grown up kids! Tyler, Kati, and Quincy live in Boise and we are so happy that they are close even for us to see them a lot. Derek is at BYU where he is planning on graduating as a history teacher and is a manager for the college basketball team. Heather and Trevor live in Provo where she works full time while Trevor finishes up at BYU. Kelly lives at home while attending TVCC and then in June will transfer to BYU to finish her degree.
Our family has meant the world to us and we wouldn't trade our memories for anything. Like everyone else, we have had our trials and struggles, but they have made us strong and who we are.
After many years of getting up and milking cows at 3 am Kent thought it was finally time to sell the milk cows and just concentrate on farming. What a difference this has made in our lives. Now we can be gone for more than 5 hours at a time! Kent is now serving as a counselor in the bishopric for the Singles Ward. He is perfect for the job.
After staying at home while the kids were growing up, Teesy started working at the high school when Kelly started 1st grade. After a couple of job changes, she now works for a physcial therpay clinic as the office manager.
Well, that's a short history of our family. Our family is growing and we couldn't be happier!
